Community Moderator

Feral Signal is hiring a Community Moderator to look after our online communities and Discord server, and to be the customer-support face our members and customers deal with every day.

You'll be the person keeping conversations flowing, questions answered, rule-breakers handled, and the overall vibe positive. It's a blend of community management, moderation, and customer support — fast replies, clear communication, and steady judgement under pressure.

What you'll do

• Run our Discord server day to day — welcome new members, answer questions, keep channels on-topic
• Moderate content and behaviour: enforce rules, handle reports, time-out / remove bad actors
• Respond to customer support questions across Discord, DMs, and our support inbox
• Triage and resolve tickets — and escalate the ones that need a human on our side
• Set up and maintain channels, roles, auto-mod, and bots (MEE6, Carl-bot, Dyno, or similar)
• Spot recurring questions and turn them into FAQs, canned replies, and pinned guides
• Flag trends, complaints, and feature requests back to the team
• Help keep the community active with prompts, announcements, and light events

What we're looking for

• Real experience moderating a Discord server and/or doing customer support / community management
• Comfortable with Discord admin: roles, permissions, auto-mod, and common moderation bots
• Fast, friendly, clear written communication — you de-escalate instead of inflaming
• Good judgement on when to handle something yourself vs. escalate
• Reliable availability and coverage across the hours/timezones we agree on
• Discreet and unflappable — you keep your cool with difficult members

Content & maturity note

Our communities sit in restricted, high-friction AI content categories. This role involves daily exposure to explicit / NSFW content as part of normal moderation and support work.

Applicants must be 18+ and genuinely comfortable working around this material. If that's not for you, this isn't the right role — and that's completely fine. We expect maturity, discretion, and professionalism.
